RHODE ISLAND VS. CENTRAL CONNECTICUT STATE - SERIES NOTES
- Rhode Island and Central Connecticut State have met two times, with URI winning both meetings.
- The Rams won 77-58 in 2002-03 and 77-69 in the 2008-09 season.
- The first meeting between the schools came during Rhode Island's first season playing in the Ryan Center.
- Monday's game is the season opener for both schools.
- CCSU is picked to finish second in the NEC preseason poll.
- Senior Kellen Amos was named to the NEC Preseason All-Conference Team after averaging 14.1 points and shooting 45.4 percent from the floor last season. He was a second-team all-NEC pick in 2022-23.
- CCSU head coach Patrick Sellers is in his third season. He returns three starters and nine letterwinners from last season.
- CCSU assistant coach Ben Wood began his coaching career at Rhode Island, serving as the team's director of operations for Dan Hurley's staff in 2012-13.Â
OPENER STREAMING ON ESPN+, VARSITY NETWORK
- Longtime audio voice of the Rams Steve McDonald will have the audio call for Monday's opener on the Varsity Network, along with Chris DiSano.
- The Varsity Network will once again be the exclusive home for the audio call of every game throughout the season.Â
- Aidan Garvey and Nathan Robillard will have the call on ESPN+, with Brandon Lajoie as the sideline reporter.
- All URI home games that are not nationally televised will be streamed exclusively on ESPN+.
- Fans outside of the United States will be able to stream URI home games via the Atlantic 10's All-Access page.Â
HOME COOKING TO START THE SEASON
- Rhode Island will play its first three games of the season at the Ryan Center.
- The Rams are 19-2 in home openers since the Ryan Center opened in the 2002-03 season.
- URI will play eight of its 13 non-conference games in Kingston, including three games in the first nine days of the season. After Monday's game with CCSU, the Rams host Fairfield on Nov. 9 and Wagner Nov. 14.
PLENTY TO LIKE FROM EXHIBITION GAME
- Rhode Island took care of business in its exhibition game against Assumption on Nov. 1, winning 96-54.
- URI had six players score in double figures, including all five starters.
- Guard Jaden House led URI with 19 points, while center Jeremy Foumena added 15 points off the bench.Â
- Forward David Fuchs had 10 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double. Fellow forward Tyson Brown had 10 points and eight boards.
- Guards Zek Montgomery and Luis Kortright had 14 and 11 points, respectively.
- Kortright also had seven rebounds and four steals.
- As a team, the Rams outrebounded Assumption 59-22.
- Rhody also had 18 assists with 13 turnovers. Four different players - guard Always Wright (4), Brown (3), Fuchs (3) and guard Brandon Weston (3) - recorded at least three assists.
