How it Happened
A Tyshawn Archie game winning, fade away jumper gave McNeese (8-2) a 66-64 win at the Ryan Center on Tuesday night.

Rhode Island (7-4) had a chance to tie the game on its final possession. Tyler Cochran launched the ball the length of the court to Myles Corey. Corey's game-tying effort was blocked by McNeese's Javohn Garcia to secure the victory for the visiting Cowboys.

Rhode Island trailed 37-32 late in the first half. Rhode Island then went on a 5-0 run to end the half. A Keeyan Itejere dunk brought the Rams within three, and a Jonah Hinton three-point bucket with 19 seconds left in the half tied at 37 heading into the locker room.

McNeese's Larry Johnson hit a layup with 17:31 left in the second half to give McNeese a 45-38 lead. The Cowboy seven-point advantage was their largest of the game.

After exchanging buckets for the next 10 minutes of game play, Rhode Island, a pair of Myles Corey free throws with 5:59 to go in the second half pushed Rhode Island ahead 55-53. That was Rhode Island's first lead since it led 8-7 in the first half. McNeese narrowly outscored Rhode Island 13-9 over the last six minutes to help give Rhode Island its first home loss of the season.
