Rams Blanked by George Mason in Series Finale

How It Happened
George Mason broke open a tight game with a four-run rally in the sixth to help the Patriots beat Rhode Island 5-0 and win the three-game series.

Rhode Island (9-14, 1-2 Atlantic 10) was held to just one hit by a combination of four George Mason pitchers.

In the top of the second, George Mason (14-13, 2-1 A-10) got a one-out triple from Mark Trotta. Rhody appeared on the verge of escaping damage when starter Braedan Perry induced a fielder's choice comebacker off the bat of Derek Wood, retiring Trotta on the play. However, Wood stole second and scored on a single to right field by Brett Stalli.

The score remained the same until the top of the sixth when George Mason scored four times after two outs had been recorded. With Wood on first and two away, Carsen Pracht singled and South Trimble walked to load the bases. Reece Woody cleared the bases with a double to left, making the score 4-0. A Jordan Smith triple brought Woody in for more insurance.

Despite drawing five walks over the final five innings, Rhode Island was not able to make the base runners count.
