How it Happened
Hartford scored two runs in the top of the ninth inning to snatch a victory away from Rhode Island, 5-4, Wednesday afternoon.
Rhode Island (17-21) took its first lead in the bottom of the eight when
Michael Anderson hit a solo home run to lead off the frame. However, Hartford (3-29) came right back with two runs in the top of the ninth. Joseph Woronick walked with one out and moved to second when JJ Romatzick singled. Ciccone reached on an error that allowed Woronick to score the tying run. A wild pitch then let Romatzick to score the go-ahead run.
The Rams got the potential tying run on in the bottom of the ninth when
Nicholas Toro reached on a two-out single. He moved to second on a wild pitch, but he was stranded there when
Alex Ramirez was retired on a groundout.
