Senior
Caitlin O'Leary delivered a pinch-hit single to drive in
Skyler Rapuano with two outs in the top of the seventh to lift Rhode Island to a 1-0 win at St. Bonaventure Saturday afternoon.
Rapuano led off the seventh with a single and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by
Jessica Hennelly. She then moved to third on a fly out by
Becca Zawistowski. O'Leary came on as a pinch hitter and was quickly down 0-2, she fouled off two pitches and worked her way to a 2-2 count. After fouling off two more pitches, O'Leary reached on an infield single that brought Rapuano in with the game's only run.
Rhode Island (19-27-1, 9-11 Atlantic 10) won its third straight conference road game.
Senior
Liz Lynchard (10-11) threw her second complete-game shutout of the week, allowing just three singles and no walks. She has now thrown 16.2 scoreless innings over her last three outings.
