How it Happened
Another frustrating night for Rhode Island saw the Rams fall 1-0 to Duquesne Thursday despite a big advantage in shots.

URI had a season-high 19 shot on the night, including six shots on goal. Unfortunately, the Rams could not find the back of the net.

Duquesne broke through in the 85th minute. Margey Brown beat a Rhody defender in the box and sent a cross from right to left to Anna Bundy, who was able to get just enough on the shot to out it in for a 1-0 lead.

It was the first shot on goal for the Dukes in the second half. In the first half, Duquesne got two shots on goal in a 38-second span, but keeper Faith Hutchins kept them off the board. In 26th minute, Hutchins knocked a shot from Brown over the crossbar. Brown's shot from the right side of the box deflected off URI's Tess O'Connell, but Hutchins was able to react and tip the ball away. On the ensuing corner kick, Hutchins again made the save on a shot by Karley Steiner.

Rhode Island had several solid opportunities. Lauren MacDonald had a point-blank shot in the middle of the box for Rhody in the 36th minute. A touch pass from Francesca D'Agostino set up MacDonald, but her left-footed touch went into the breadbasket of keeper Maddy Neundorfer for the save.

Two minutes into the second half, a poor pass back to Neundorfer wound up creating an open-net situation, but Rhode Island was unable to get a shot on target. Sam Hagerty had another strong chance for the Rams in the 59th minute, but her shot from the upper left corner of the box went just outside the right post.

MacDonald had one more chance in the 79th minute. Hagerty put a cross right on MacDonald's foot, but the one-time shot went to Neundorfer for the save.

In the end, Rhode Island suffered its eighth shutout of the season.
