How it Happened
Rhode Island keeper Faith Hutchins had another busy afternoon in goal, recording the fourth shutout of the season in a scoreless tie at VCU Sunday.
The host Rams outshot Rhody 6-3 in the first half, and Hutchins made two stops to send the teams into the break knotted at 0-0.
Lauren MacDonald had Rhode Island's first shot on goal of the game in the second half. MacDonald had back-to-back shots, first a blast that was saved by VCU keeper Allison Karpovich and then a shot off the rebound that went high. The rest of the half was all the Rams of VCU, as they pressured Hutchins with 10 shots, and drawing six corners all in the second 45 minutes of play. Nothing connected for either team, and Rhody was sent home with the tie.
