How It Happened
On a day offensive chances were tough to come by, Rhode Island made its last one count, using a late goal to get a key road conference win. The Rams blanked Loyola Chicago 1-0 on an
Íñigo Etxegarai goal Saturday afternoon.
After withstanding sustained pressure from the Loyola attack, Rhode Island capitalized on a counter attack.
Isak Oystese carried the ball down the left side of the pitch before sending a cross to
Íñigo Etxegarai in the middle of the box. Etxegarai used a touch to settle the ball and let a defender slide past before he sent a low shot to the back of the net.
It was just the second shot on goal of the day for Rhode Island. Loyola limited the Rams to just four shots total.
