RHODE ISLAND VS. LAFAYETTE - SERIES NOTES
- Rhode Island and Lafayette are meeting for the fourth time.
- The Rams have won each of the previous three meetings, though the teams have not met since Dec. 22, 2010, a 73-65 victory in which URI made 14 3-point baskets.
- The three previous meetings are spaced out through the years. The first game in the series was played on Dec. 30, 1977, a 64-60 Rhody win.
- The second meeting was on Dec. 4, 1982, a 92-56 win.
- Lafayette is playing its second Atlantic 10 team of the young season. The Leopards fell to La Salle 81-60 on Nov. 9.
- Devin Hines leads Lafayette in scoring at 13.3 points per game.
RAMS LOOKING FOR FOURTH STRAIGHT WINÂ
- Rhode Island is aiming to open the season 4-0 for the first time since the 2016-17 season.
- That season, the Rams began with wins over Dartmouth, Marist, Brown and Cincinnati.
- Dating back to the 1948-49 season (77 seasons), the Rams have started 4-0 or better 12 times.
- The best over that span was 7-0, which happened in both 1976-77 and 1980-81.
- The best start in program history was a 13-0 start in 1938-39 under Frank Keaney.Â
- Keaney started 5-0 or better 13 times from 1920-1948.
BALANCED ATTACK BODES WELL
- Rhode Island has four players averaging 14.0 points per game or more.
- Jaden House is leading the way with 18.0 per game after netting 21 last time out against Franklin Pierce.
- David Green is providing 16.7 points per game, while Javonte Brown is scoring 15.0 per game.Â
- Sebastian Thomas is the fourth double-digit scorer at 14.0 per game.
