How it Happened
A furious start propelled Rhode Island (4-0) to an 86-72 over Lafayette Wednesday night.

Rhode Island stormed out of the gates, scoring the game's first 14 points. Sebastian Thomas had seven points and assisted on a layup by Tyonne Farrell and a 3-pointer by Jamarques Lawrence, contributing to 12 of the points during the run. URI's led reached 19 points after a Jaden House 3-pointer from Drissa Traore made it 26-7.

Lafayette (1-3) chipped away from there, using a 20-11 run to trim the Rhody lead to 37-27. A David Fuchs old-fashioned three-point play in the final minute of the half gave the Rams a 13-point lead heading into the half.

The visiting Leopards got hot from outside to start the second half. Lafayette was 5-for-6 from 3-point range in the first nine minutes. Devin Hines was 3-for-4 from deep as the Rhody lead was trimmed to 59-54 by the media timeout at 11:05.

From that point, Rhode Island slowly increased its lead. Led by David Green and Jaden House, the Rams scored 27 points over the final 11 minutes as they steadily increased their lead. Green and House each had four points during a 17-7 spurt that gave Rhody a 15-point lead that was not threatened the rest of the way.
