KINGSTON, R.I. — Rhode Island women's lacrosse head coach Jenna Slowey announced a trio of captains ahead of the inaugural season. Grad transfers Caitlin Dellecave and Sami MacDonald join graduate student Emma Hughes as captains for 2024-25. "Both our staff and our team are so excited to have these three at the helm for our first season," said Slowey. "They complement each other as leaders, and we are eager to continue to lay the foundation for our first year."

Dellecave arrived in Kingston as a transfer from Stony Brook, where she made four straight NCAA appearances. "Caitlin exudes passion and joy for the game," said Slowey.  "Her ability to compete, while having fun is contagious. She has set a great example for what perseverance and hardwork looks like. We are excited to have her lead this year."

MacDonald joins the Rams as a fifth year from High Point where she earned a starting role and eventual captain in 2024.  "Sami is a natural born leader," added Slowey. "She has done a great job creating relationships and connections with her teammates both on and off the field. She consistently competes day in and day out. Her drive for this inaugural team to leave a legacy is infectious."

Hughes, who has been with the program since day one, rounds out the trio of leaders. The Rhode Island native (Chariho, R.I.) has the longest tenure with the program, as the first and only member of the squad in 2022-23. "Emma embodies what it means to lead by example," finished Slowey. "She shows up everyday looking to get better, no matter the circumstances. She is the epitome of who and what Rhode Island Lacrosse is looking to grow into."

The Rams begin their inaugural season with games beginning in February 2025.
