How it Happened
Rhode Island Volleyball snapped a four-match losing streak with a 3-1 (25-21, 25-22, 18-25, 25-22) win over George Washington at home in Keaney Gymnasium on Friday night. URI used a .212 hitting percentage, its best since hitting .294 during the win over Fordham (Oct. 9), to get out of the slump.

Set One - Rhode Island 25, George Washington 21
The Rhody (9-19, 4-11 Atlantic 10) hitters got going early to start off the match, with Havyn Rolle firing off a quick four kills to help the team jump out 8-2 and force a GW (18-10, 8-7 A-10) timeout. Rhode Island stretched its lead to as much as 10 points before a 10-0 Revolutionary run knotted up the score at 21-21. The Disu twins posted two key kills down the stretch to help their team hold on for the opening-set win.

Set Two - Rhode Island 25, George Washington 22
The start of the second set was a different story for the Rams, who got into a 7-2 hole early. George Washington's five-point lead was its largest as its attempts to pull away were unsuccessful. Eventually, a slew of attack errors by the visitors helped Rhode Island rattle off a five-point run that pulled them within one at 11-10. Later, the Rams took their first lead of the set on a Madi Disu service ace that put them up, 17-16. The teams continued to trade points in the race to 25 before back-to-back kills from Rolle and Aerin Bowman awarded URI the win.

Set Three - George Washington 25, Rhode Island 18
Miscues plagued Rhode Island in the third set, as the team had six attack errors and four service errors. The Rams hit .152 in the set, their lowest of the night, and faltered a five-point lead. George Washington broke a tie at 17-17 with a key block and scored eight of the next nine points to win the third set and prolong the match.

Set Four - Rhode Island 25, George Washington 22
Rhody led by as much as 18-11 in the fourth set before a three-point spurt from the visitors forced the Rams into a timeout. The momentum continued to favor George Washington after the break, as three kills and a pair of Rhody attack errors tied the score at 19 points apiece. The Rams delivered with the pressure on, scoring all but three of the match's final nine points. Erika Bracey, Aerin Bowman and Madi Disu recorded kills before Kiera McCarles set Havyn Rolle, who finished off the night with a point.
