How it Happened
Rhode Island's magical run at the 2024 Atlantic 10 Championship came to an end in the finals, as the sixth-seeded Rams fell to No. 1 Richmond 65-51 Sunday.

Four Richmond starters scored in double figures, as Maggie Doogan (18), Addie Budnik (14), Siobhan Ryan (14) and Grace Townsend (13) accounted for all but six of the Spider points.

The Spiders (29-5) used quick starts in each of the first three quarters to control tempo throughout. Richmond scored the first five points of the game, and the first eight points of the second quarter. Rhody (21-14) found itself down by double digits just two minutes into the second period and was never able to cut into the deficit much.

Richmond took a 35-19 lead at the half as the tandem of Addie Budnik (12 points) and Siobhan Ryan (7 points) matched Rhody's output through the first two quarters. The Spiders shot 50 percent from the field (14-of-28) and had seven 3-pointers as they led throughout.

When the Spiders opened the third quarter with a 9-0 run, the game was effectively over.
