How it Happened
No. 11 Rhode Island's season ended with a 74-71 loss to No. 14 Saint Louis in the opening round of the Atlantic 10 Championship Tuesday night.
The Rams (12-20) trailed by as many as 12 points in the game, but an explosive second half saw URI take a five-point lead with 5:47 to go following a
David Fuchs dunk. However, Saint Louis (13-19) scored 15 points in the final five minutes – nine by Gibson Jimerson – to rally for the win. Jimerson was again a thorn in Rhody's side, scoring 26 points to lead all scorers.
Rhode Island got a 3-pointer from
David Green to take a 67-63 lead with 4:35 to go. That was Rhody's last field goal until a
Luis Kortright layup with 11 seconds to go.
