How It Happened
Rhode Island was shut out for the third time in four games as it dropped the rubber game of a three-game series at Fordham 6-0 Sunday afternoon.
Despite having runners on base every inning, Rhody (3-18, 1-2 Atlantic 10) could not break through against Fordham's Devon Miller (4-5). Miller hurled her second shutout in as many days against URI to help Fordham (10-15-1, 2-1 A-10) take the series.
Fordham broke a scoreless game with two unearned runs in the bottom of the third. With runners on a second and third with two outs, Sydney Wells dropped a single to left to bring in Gianna Sarlo and Bailey Enoch. A fielding error earlier in the inning gave Fordham an extra out to work with.
That was all the run support Miller needed, though Fordham added three in the fourth and a single run in the sixth inning.
