How it Happened
Rhode Island closed out the regular season with a statement, dismantling Dayton 77-42 on the road Saturday afternoon.
The Rams (18-13, 10-8 Atlantic 10) scored the first 13 points of the game and never looked back. Holding Dayton to 23 percent (15-of-64) shooting from the field – including zero percent from the arc (0-for-13) – Rhody smothered the Flyers (11-18, 5-13 A-10).
The lead 's lead never dipped below eight points after the initial surge. A 3-pointer by
Sophie Phillips put URI ahead 24-12 just three minutes into the second quarter, and the advantage stayed in double figures the remainder of the game.

- This was Rhode Island's second straight win for the Rams over Dayton. Before last season, the Flyers had won 20 in a row in the series.
- It was the first win at UD Arena for the Rams in program history. Rhody was 0-15 before Saturday's win.Â

- Phillips is now in sole possession of fourth place on Rhode Island's career list with 160 3-point baskets, passing current associate head coach Megan Shoniker. Next on the list is Dayna Smith, who had 184 from 1992-96.
