How it Happened
Early scoring caused Rhode Island Baseball to lose its series opener at George Washington, 11-6, on Friday afternoon at Barcroft Park.

Rhody (11-20, 4-6 Atlantic 10) gave up six runs in the first inning and did not recover from the early blow. The Rams had taken the initial lead when Reece Moroney delivered an RBI single in the top half but it was their only advantage of the day as the Colonials (22-15, 5-5 A-10) went on to hang the crooked number. George Washington drew three consecutive one-out walks before a pair of singles and a double scratched runs across.

Following the opening outburst, the teams were evenly matched down the stretch and scored five runs apiece. Eric Genther contributed a pair of RBI singles in the second and fifth innings, with Jack Hopko adding a run-scoring knock of his own in the latter. Anthony DePino also scored for URI when he homered to right center in the fourth.
