How it Happened
Four unearned runs scored in the seventh inning were the difference in Rhode Island Baseball's 8-4 loss to Fordham on Friday afternoon at Bill Beck Field.

Rhody (13-23, 5-8 A-10) had led early and even came from behind to force a tie, but was unable to hold off its conference foe.

Rob Butler got the scoring started when he roped a two-run double out to left center in the second that drove in Will Hindle and Connor Grotyohann

The visiting Rams (17-23, 8-5 A-10) later cut the lead in half when an RBI groundout made it a 2-1 game in the fourth. Fordham then led off the following inning with a solo shot and put two more runners on to chase starting pitcher AJ Jones out. Jeremy Urena was called from the bullpen and let up a bases-clearing triple that put the visitors ahead, 4-2.

Rhode Island was able to tie things up with a pair of home runs off the bats of Michael Anderson and Jack Hopko in the sixth. Both hitters took pitches deep to right field on 3-1 counts.

In the following frame, a fielding error brought in the go-ahead run for Fordham and the team capitalized on freebies from there. A visiting Ram was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded before a pair of RBI walks made it a four-run difference.

URI struggled to get anything going down the stretch, leaving three runners stranded in the final three innings.
