Rowing Gears up for Atlantic 10 Championship

KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island Rowing will pursue its 10th Atlantic 10 Championship in program history on Saturday morning in Cherry Hill, N.J.

Racing on the Cooper River begins with prelims at 8 a.m. Following a 90-minute break, finals will kick off at 11 a.m.

The Rams will look to regain their place at the top of the conference after George Washington took the crown a season ago. Prior to that, URI had won four-straight from 2018-22. All nine of Rhode Island's titles have been earned since 2008.

Rhody is led by team captains Catie Castle, Samantha Gumprecht, Nicole Jones, Ellie McGee and Hailey Pardi. Outside of their strong leadership group, the Rams' roster boasts nine seniors and two graduate students in the All-American Castle and Sammie Gorecki

Castle (First Team), Jones (Second Team) and Pardi (Second Team) earned All-Atlantic 10 honors at last year's championship.

The winner of the title will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship, which is being held on East Fork/Harsha Lake in Bethel, Ohio from May 31-June 2. Rhode Island has earned the league's automatic bid six times (2022, 2021, 2019, 2018, 2016, 2013).
