How It Happened
Maine's Jordane Pinette scored the lone goal of the match in the 16th minute to lift the Black Bears over Rhode Island Sunday afternoon.
Just after crossing midfield, Lara Kirkby slipped a long, low pass to Pinette at the top of the box. Pinette cut the ball back from her left foot to right and fired a low shot to the right corner of the net.
Playing its second match in three days, Rhode Island was unable to apply much pressure offensively. While the Rams had nine total shots and gained seven corner kicks, Rhody had no shots on goal.
