The Rams had several near misses throughout the night, outshooting Holy Cross 14-5 on the night. Though both sides had five shots on goal, Rhody had several more that went

In the 18th minute, Cristina Sallent had the ball on her foot in the box. Holy Cross keeper Julia Walsh slid in and took Sallent out, resulting in a yellow card and a penalty kick for the Rams. Sallent took the penalty kick, which Walsh stopped. However, Sallent controlled the rebound and put it in the back of the net for her first goal of the season.

Rhode Island keeper Abby McCarthy came up big in the 55th minute. A Holy Cross corner kick led to a shot off the head of Jenelle Murphy, but McCarthy made a diving save of the redirect, knocking the shot away.

McCarthy made another big play in the 75th minute, making three saves in a span of 41 seconds. Sydney Comeau hard liner from the right of the box was the best chance of the bunch, but McCarthy was in position. Emily Bubonovich followed 20 seconds later with a shot to the upper left corner, but McCarthy made the diving save. The third shot was a long-range floater from Sydney Balwin that McCarthy easily caught, settling down the spurt in the process.
