Davy Named CAA Football Defensive Player of the Week

KINGSTON, R.I. - Linebacker Rohan Davy was named CAA Football Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday morning.

Davy had six tackles, a quarterback sack, and his first career touchdown during Saturday's win against New Hampshire. With 1:05 left to go in the fourth quarter, Davy helped secure the 38-27 Rhode Island win with a 45-yard fumble return for a touchdown. Davy led a Rhode Island defense that held New Hampshire to 320 yards.

Davy leads the Rams with five sacks and 10 tackles for loss this season. He is second on the team with 58 tackles through seven games. Rhode Island's defense leads CAA Football in scoring defense (21.8) and total defense (319.7).

Rhode Island has earned three CAA Football Defensive Player of the Week awards this season. Moses Meus had the first for the Rams on Sept. 15 after Rhode Island's 9-7 win at Holy Cross. Justin Carcel also has received the honor this year after his two interception performance against LIU.

The Rams travel to UAlbany this week for a conference match up with the Great Danes on Saturday, Sept. 18. Game time is 3:30 p.m. on FloCollege.com.
