RHODE ISLAND VS. STONEHILL - SERIES NOTES
  • Rhode Island and Stonehill are meeting for the 12th time.
  • The Rams own the series, winning all 11 previous contests.
  • Tuesday's game will be the first meeting betwee the teams in nearly two decades, dating back to an 86-62 URI win on Nov. 10, 2006.
  • All other games in the series happened between 1975 and 1986.

A LOOK AT THE OPPONENT

  • Like Rhode Island, Stonehill split its first two games of the season, beating Thomas College 100-48 and falling to DePaul 72-64.
  • Herman Koffi scored a career-high 27 points and made seven 3-pointers in the DePaul game.
  • Raymond Espinal-Guzman - a graduate transfer from Sacred Heart - flirted with a triple-double last time out, scoring nine points, grabbing 10 rebounds and dishing out seven assists. 
  • Stonehill was picked to finish third in the NEC Preseason Poll.
  • The Skyhawks have nine new players on the team this season, including eight transfers.
  • The eight transfers are William Batchelder (Holy Cross), Raymond Espinal-Guzman (Sacred Heart), Davante Hackett (Brock University), Anthony Holden (Maryville), Cory Lovell (Hercum College), Trenton Ruth (Coffeyville C.C.), Rex Sunderland (New Hampshire) and Ridvan Tutic (Maine).
  • Stonehill is in ts fourth season as a Division I program.

A WEEK AT HOME FOR THE RAMS

  • Rhode Island plays back-to-back home games this week, hosting Stonehill Tuesday before welcoming UAlbany to the Ryan Center Friday night.
  • Since the start of the 2023-24 season, the Rams are 15-2 in non-conference home games.
  • Last season, URI was 14-3 overall at home, going 8-0 in non-conference play and 6-3 in Atlantic 10 games.
  • Rhody has won its last 10 non-conference home games, with the last loss coming against New Hampshire on Dec. 21, 2023.
  • Last year marked just the fourth time Rhode Island won 14 or more home games in one season.
  • In addition to the program-best 15-1 mark in 2017-18, Rhody was 15-2 in 2009-10.
  • URI was 14-2 in 2014-15.
  • Now in its 24th season in the Ryan Center, Rhode Island has won 12 or more games 10 times.
  • All time, the Rams are 241-115 in the Ryan Center.

HINTON MATCHES CAREER HIGH IN POINTS 

  • Guard Jonah Hinton scored 19 points in Rhode Island's loss to Tulsa Friday, matching his career best in the process.
  • While a member of St. Bonaventure last season, Hinton had 19 points against Richmond on Jan. 1.
  • Through two games Hinton leads the Rams with 15.5 per game while shooting 40.0 percent from the arc (6-for-15). 
  • Hinton has been perfect from the free throw line, making all seven of his attempts.
