KINGSTON, R.I. – The 29th Harold Anderson Invitational will be held in the Tootell Aquatic Center from Thursday, Nov. 20 through Sunday, Nov. 24.
The Rams will host the nine-school meet, which also includes Assumption, Holy Cross, Maine, New Hampshire, Providence, Stonehill Vermont and Wagner.
Meet Rules
- Each competitor is permitted to participate in a maximum of (7) events, and no more than (3) may be individual events
- The meet will follow a "Prelims and Finals'' format. All heats of the Mile will be swum on Sunday, fastest to slowest, alternating women and men, during the break. The top 2 heats of the mile will swim at night
- There will be an A, B and C final - Top 24 will swim at night, but only Top 16 can score. The Mile and all relays will be Timed Finals
- Scoring will follow the normal (3/2) place scoring system used in NCAA dual meet competition, meaning no more than (3) individuals and no more than (2) relays from any one team may score in any given event
Women's Scoring
- The scoring for the Women in individual events will go to the 16th place and to the 14th place for relays.
- Individual Events: 20 – 17 – 16 – 15 – 14 – 13 – 12 - 11 – 9 – 7 – 6 – 5 – 4 – 3 – 2 – 1
- Relay Events: 40 -34 – 32 – 30 – 28 – 26 – 24 – 22 – 18 – 14 – 12 – 10 – 8 - 6

Anderson Made An Impact on Swimming In the State
- In 1961 Harold Anderson was instrumental in organizing the R.I. Interscholastic Swimming Officials Association, and he served as the organization's president from 1974 to 1978
- He founded the R.I. Aquatic Hall of Fame in 1981 and was the first president of the Hall of Fame committee
- He was inducted into the R.I. Aquatic Hall of Fame in 1985
- He was an active volunteer with Special Olympics, conducting aquatic events for the group
- In 1974 Harold received a special award of honor from the R.I. Association of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation, as well as a meritorious service award from the same organization in recognition of his years of service in aquatics
- After graduating from high school, Harold attended the Red Cross National Aquatic School at Camp Kiwanee, Massachusetts and later was appointed Assistant Director of Safety Services for the Providence Chapter of the Red Cross in 1947, a position he held until entering the Army in 1952
- Following his military service, Harold resumed his position for the Red Cross, and in 1955, he was appointed Director of Safety Services for the Providence Chapter of the Red Cross
- His most noted award came from the National American Red Cross, which honored him with the Golden Whale Award in 1981
