RHODE ISLAND VS. MANHATTAN - SERIES NOTES
- Rhode Island opens the 2025-26 season on the road, facing Manhattan Monday night.
- Historically, the Rams are 6-2 all-time against Manhattan.
- The last time the two teams faced was Dec. 9. 1995. Rhody won, 86-77.
- Former Ram Dee Dee Davis '24 is on staff for Manhattan as an Assistant Coach. Davis played for the Jaspers from 2018-23.
- Rhode Island has won the last two straight season openers.
- It's the first season opener on the road for the Rams since they opened the 2022-23 season at Harvard.
SCOUTING THE JASPERS
- Manhattan finished the 2024-25 season 16-15 with a 9-11 finish in MAAC play.
- The Jaspers ended the year falling to eventual champion Fairfield, 58-51.
- In the 2025 MAAC Preseason Women's Basketball Coaches' Poll, Manhattan was selected to finish seventh out of 13 teams.
- The Jasper's senior guard Brianna Davis earned a spot on the Preseason All-MAAC Third Team. Last year was the Queens College transfer's first season donning the Green and White, and she appeared in 27 games, while posting two starts against Fordham and Vermont, totaling 205 points, and averaging 7.6 points per game.
RHODE ISLAND PICKED FOURTH IN ATLANTIC 10 PRESEASON POLL
- Rhode Island women's basketball was picked to finish fourth in the Atlantic 10 Preseason Poll, the league announced ahead of Media Day.
- A season ago, the Rams finished the regular season as the No. 5 seed at the Atlantic 10 Tournament. Rhody fell to Saint Joseph's in the Quarterfinal round.
- Rhode Island reloaded in the offseason, adding three in-conference transfers: Brooklyn Gray (SLU), George Mason's Ta'Viyanna Habib and VCU's Valentina Ojeda.
- Habib arrives in Kingston as a reigning A-10 champion with the Patriots, while Ojeda recently represented Team Chile at the FIBA 3x3 World Cup in China.
- Rhode Island opens the 2025-26 season at Manhattan on Nov. 3.
- The Rams' home opener is set for Nov. 7 against Merrimack at the Ryan Center.
GRAY, DEBROISE COLLECT PRESEASON HONORS
- Saint Louis transfer guard Brooklyn Gray was selected to the Preseason All-Conference Second Team, while senior guard Ines Debroise earned a spot on the Preseason All-Defensive Team.
- Gray joined the Rams after spending the past two seasons at Saint Louis, where she totaled 810 career points.
- She scored a career-high 30 in last year's Atlantic 10 Tournament and posted five 20-point games, including a 22-point performance in the Billikens' win over Rhode Island on Feb. 26.
- Debroise, entering her senior season, has run the Rams' offense at point guard during her career at Rhody Island.
- Known for her defense, she tallied 22 steals in 27 games last season. It marks her first career A-10 preseason honor.
