How it Happened
A well-balanced attack lifted Rhode Island to an 86-71 victory over La Salle on Saturday afternoon at the Ryan Center.
The Rams (17-8, 6-7 A-10) had six different players score in double figures for the third time this season while shooting 60.0 percent from the floor, their best showing this year.
URI steadily built its lead in the first half, eventually stretching it to double digits on a
Jaden House pullup jumper at the 8:14 mark that pushed the score to 30-19. Though the offense cooled off down the stretch, going nearly four minutes without a point, the team remained in front at the half, 38-34.
Rhode Island came out of the locker room with a six-point swing that opened the advantage up back to 10. Though the margin shifted in size, the smallest that the Explorers (12-14, 4-9 A-10) were able to cut it down to was five when Jahlil White hit a three with 4:47 to go (70-65).
David Fuchs responded to La Salle's push with a five-point burst of his own, which included a crowd-approved dunk, assisted by
Sebastian Thomas, that once again put the Rams up by 10 with just under three minutes left (77-65).
Rhody kept its foot on the gas from there, earning back-to-back conference wins for the first time in 2024-25.
