How it Happened
Rhode Island scored 22 seconds into the match and never looked back as it cruised to an 18-1 win over Central Connecticut State Wednesday afternoon.
Brinley Myers got the Rams on the board first with an unassisted goal just moments into the match. She and
Caralie Basuel each scored twice in a dominant opening period that saw the Rams build a 5-1 lead. Rhody outshot CCSU 13-3 in the quarter and maintained possession in the offensive end for the majority of the period.
It was much of the same in the second quarter, as Rhody blanked the visitors while scoring six more times.
Calli Dunn scored twice and
Caitlin Dellecave had two goals and two assists in the quarter to lead the offense. Rhode Island pushed its lead to 11-1 to enact the running clock with 32 seconds left in the half.
Rhode Island did not allow a shot on goal after the first quarter and limited the Blue Devils to just eight shots total for the match. Rhody scored the final 14 goals on the day, coasting to its second win in as many matches.
