How It Happened
North Carolina A&T led throughout as it handed Rhode Island a 7-3 loss Saturday afternoon at the Catamount Classic.

It was a frustrating day for URI (2-6), which managed just three runs despite 12 hits on the day.

North Carolina A&T (4-10) struck for a run in the bottom of the second. Jaden James doubled down the right field line and moved to third on a groundout. Megan Ellis drove her in with a grounder to shortstop.

The Aggies added to the lead an inning later when Jamari Moss punched a two-out single through the right side to drive in Trinity Glover and Roshell Williams. A single run in the fifth gave NC A&T a 4-0 lead.

Rhody finally broke through in the top of the sixth. Hannah Hernandez and Kylie Bulinski led off with back-to-back singles. With two down, Becca Zawistowski doubled to left, driving in Hernandez. Noelle Sterner drew a walk to load the bases, and Natalie Maleitzke was hit by a pitch to bring pinch runner Emily Power and trim the deficit to 4-2.

An unlikely two-out rally for NC A&T in the bottom of the sixth put the game away. After the first two batters were retired, three straight singles and a pair of URI errors resulted in three more runs for the Aggies.
