How it Happened
A late surge caused the Rhode Island baseball team to suffer a narrow, 10-9 loss to finish out its series against George Washington on Sunday afternoon at Bill Beck Field.

The visiting Revolutionaries (12-11, 3-3 A-10) plated four runs on two outs in the top of the ninth to overtake the Rams.

Most of the scoring action came towards the end of the game, with 12 of the teams' 19 total runs coming across in the last three frames. In the top of the seventh, GW plated four two-out runs to take a 6-4 lead in an inning that saw URI (13-10, 4-2 A-10) throw three different arms.

Despite the setback, Rhode Island responded in its half of the frame when Brody McKenzie delivered a two-RBI infield single and Anthony DePino drilled a three-run homer that lifted the team to a 9-6 advantage.

After an eighth inning that saw both sides put up zeros, Rhody brought Connor Johnston out to pitch in the ninth but he got into trouble when he walked in a two-out run. Joe Sabbath was called in to try and minimize the damage but a bases-clearing double lifted the visitors to their final margin of victory. All three URI batters were retired, in order, in the bottom of the frame.
