Game 1 – Providence 10, Rhode Island 1
Providence (11-16) scored four runs on five hits in the first inning and never looked back in the opening game of Tuesday's doubleheader.

A two-run triple off the bat of Dunn keyed the first-inning rally. Rhody (6-16) got one run back in the top of the second on a solo home run by Emily Power, but that was all the Rams could muster off Friar starter Alyssa Twomey.

It was a steady offensive barrage for Providence, which scored once in the second, once in the third, twice in the fourth and two more times in the fifth to bring the game to an end after five innings. Rachael Petrarca led the Friars with two home runs, one single, three runs scored and three RBI. Brianna De La Fuente added a two-run shot that ended the game.

Game 2 – Rhode Island 5, Providence 4
Rhody (7-16) jumped out early, getting three runs across in the top of the first. Allison Jones started the rally with a single, and Julianne Torres drove her in with a double to left field. After a fly out, Katie Knarr launched a long home run to left to give URI a 3-0 lead.

Providence (11-17) got a pair of runs in the second inning to pull within a run.

Rhody padded its lead in the fifth inning. Torres hit a one-out double, and Kylie Bulinski followed with a triple to center to make it 4-2. Knarr drove a single up the middle to plate Bulinski for another run.

Things got dicey in the bottom of the sixth when PC loaded the bases with no outs. Ashley Hibbard came on in relief and got out of the jam with only run inherited runner scoring. A double play got the Rams out of the inning. Second baseman Sydney Orndorff, who snared a line drive and then flipped to first to get the runner who strayed too far off the bag.

The Friars got an RBI single from Hanna Aldrich in the bottom of the seventh to make the score 5-4. PC had runners on first and second with one out, but Hibbard induced a foul out to Knarr at first for the second out. She then retired Rachael Petrarca on a comebacker to the mound to end the game.
