How it Happened
Rhode Island dominated from the start as it defeated Stonehill 18-5 in its non-conference finale Wednesday afternoon.
The Rams scored three times in the first six minutes as
Danielle McHugh,
Caralie Basuel and
Calli Dunn all found the back of the net just minutes into the match. It was 5-0 by the end of the quarter as
Brinley Myers got her first of the day and Dunn added her second goal before the period ended.
The onslaught continued in the second quarter. After Stonehill scored in the opening minute, URI ended the half with eight unanswered goals. By the seven-minute mark of the second quarter, the game was in a running clock situation. A goal from Myers gave the Rams an 11-1 lead, and the advantage stayed in double digits the rest of the way.
