Game 1 – Cornell 3, Rhode Island 2
The first game of the day was a tightly-contested pitcher's duel. Cornell opened the bottom of the first with three straight singles and a groundout to create a quick 2-0 lead.
In the top of the second,
Kylie Bulinski drilled her second homer of the season to cut the deficit in half.
Sydney Orndorff reached on an error that allowed her to get to second base. Â
Julianne Torres followed with a sacrifice bunt, and a second error in as many plays allowed Orndorff to come around and tie the game.
The score stayed tied at 2-2 as Rhody's
Ashley Hibbard and Cornell's Maxine McGraw traded blank frames back and forth until the bottom of the sixth. Ella Harrod led off with a single and stole second. Charlies Cai delivered a single through the right side to drive Harrod in with the winning run.

Game 2 – UMBC 12, Rhode Island 7
Host UMBC scored nine times in the bottom of the first to bust open a big lead early. Jerzie Nutile had a grand slam to start the scoring. It didn't slow down there, as 10 of the first 11 Retriever batters reached safely as part of a nine-run, eight-hit rally.
From there, Rhody got back into the game with seven unanswered runs.
Hannah Hernandez' three-run triple sparked a four-run second inning. Bulinsky got another back with a solo shot in the third. A two-run single by
Allison Jones in the fourth pulled the Rams within two at 9-7.
UMBC regained the momentum by responding with two in the bottom of the frame, and then it added an insurance run an inning later. Unfortunately, Rhody's bats calmed down, getting just one hit with no runs over the last three innings.
