Game Notes
RHODE ISLAND VS. BOSTON COLLEGE - SERIES NOTES
- Tuesday's game will be the 72nd in the history between the Rams and the Eagles.
- The teams' shared history dates back to 1919. Boston College has a 44-26-1 advantage in the 106-year span.
- Rhode Island and Boston College were scheduled to play in Kingston back on Feb. 25 but the game was called off due to weather and poor conditions at Bill Beck Field.
- It would have been the Eagles' first trip to URI since 2019.
- Rhody and BC have split their last two meetings. Boston College won a midweek game, 5-3, in seven innings back in 2022 (April 26), while URI had won a game, 6-4, the year prior (April 21, 2021).
- Since 2000, Rhode Island has only won four games at Boston College.
- In 2021, the Rams picked up a 6-4 victory on the road at BC, their most recent time achieving the feat.
- Graduate student Trystan Levesque earned his first career save in the outing. He is now URI's Saturday starter.
GENTHER RECORDS 200TH CAREER HIT
- Over the weekend, senior Eric Genther recorded his 200th career hit when he homered in the top of the first during the series finale at UMass.
- The outfielder went on to finish 3-for-5 with a game-high five RBI, helping the Rams secure their second A-10 series win of the 2025 season.
- Now up to 202 career hits, Genther not only leads Rhody's active roster in the category but is also closing in on URI's all-time top 10.
- He needs 21 more base hits to tie Ryan Cunningham (2004-07) for 10th all time at 223.
- Genther would be the first player to crack into the top 10 since Jordan Powell, who finished with 257 hits between 2015-18.
- Dan Batz is Rhode Island's all-time hits leader with 280 knocks, which he accrued from 2001-04.
- Though Genther is trying to close in on the hits category, he already checks into the Rhody record book in career hit by pitch (second, 45), career home runs (seventh, 21), career extra base hits (eighth, 69), career doubles (ninth, 42), career RBI (ninth, 129) and career total bases (10th, 319).
THE HOT CORNER
- Senior Anthony DePino was named the fifth-best third baseman in Division I Baseball, per updated rankings that D1Baseball.com put out last week.
- He was the top mid-major player listed, falling behind players from Arkansas, Wake Forest, Miami and Duke.
- Rhode Island's career home runs leader with 57, DePino currently ranks in the nation's top 15 in runs per game (fourth, 1.56), home runs (11th, 12), slugging percentage (11th, .860) and on-base percentage (12th, .553).
- He sits just outside Division I baseball's top 15 in total bases with 86 (16th).
- Earlier this season, he recorded one of the longest hitting streaks in program history at 14 games. That stretch ties for the eighth-longest by any Rhode Island baseball player.
- Though his hitting streak came to an end, DePino has actively reached base in 25 straight games.
- As the team's primary leadoff hitter, DePino is batting .410 (41-for-100) with seven doubles, one triple and 12 home runs.
- The Madison, Conn. native has registered 29 RBI and is 10-for-13 on the base paths.
- DePino has worked 25 walks and been plunked seven times. He has also scored 39 runs.
