How it Happened
Rhode Island used an evenly distributed offense to pick up a conference road win Saturday at George Mason to keep its postseason hopes alive. The Rams beat the Patriots 15-8 behind seven goal scorers for their first league road win.

URI had five different goal scorers in the first half. The Rams got to scoring early with a Caralie Basuel goal in the first minute of action. George Mason responded quickly with a goal from their top scorer, Dahlia Trippel. It was back-and-forth action with two ties and three league changes over the next 10 minutes of the quarter. George Mason scored three unanswered goals to close the quarter with a 5-3 lead.

That would be the last lead for the host Patriots. The rest of the way was all Rhode Island, as the Rams shutout George Mason in the second quarter and did not look back. URI's scoring came from Sydney MacDonald, Brinley Myers, and Caralie Basuel in the second quarter and the Rams went into the break with a 6-5 lead.

URI added to its advantage in the second half, scoring the first two goals of the third period. The offense continued to be evenly distributed, as Caitlin Dellecave became the sixth Ram to find of the back of the net with her score to make it 8-5. The Rams pushed their lead to as many as three after another Basuel goal (9-6), but George Mason added one to stay within reach going into the final period.

It was never a doubt for URI in the fourth, as the Rams used a 5-0 run over the final six minutes of the game to pull away with the win and pick up their second straight A-10 victory.
