RHODE ISLAND VS. BRYANT - SERIES NOTES

  • The Rams and the Bulldogs will face one another for the 29th time in the teams' shared history on Tuesday afternoon.
  • Bryant has a 16-11-1 all-time advantage in the series, which dates back to the 2009 season.
  • The Bulldogs have built their edge over the past few years, winning five of their last six games against URI.
  • Rhody broke up the streak by defeating Bryant 7-1 at Bill Beck Field on Tuesday, March 11.  
  • Senior Eric Genther led the offense in the victory, going 3-for-5 with a home run and and a double. Freshman Ryan Thompson (2-for-4) also recorded a multi-hit game.
  • Junior Connor Johnston earned his first win of the year, improving to 1-2 at the time. In his 2.0-inning start, he struck out four batters while scattering two hits.
  • A win on Tuesday would be the Rams' first in Smithfield since April 16, 2019. A four spot in the ninth lifted URI to a 16-12 victory over the host Bulldogs.
  • The teams did tie 7-7 on March 24, 2021 on Bryant's home field.

RHODE ISLAND VS. BROWN - SERIES NOTES

  • In-state foes Rhode Island and Brown have played one another 168 times heading into Wednesday's game. 
  • The Bears have a narrow edge over the Rams in the all-time series at 86-80-2. Their shared history dates back to 1908.
  • Though Brown has the overall advantage, Rhody has gone 9-1 in the teams' last 10 meetings. The lone loss was a 23-5 result in favor of the Bears back in 2022 at Bill Beck Field.
  • Rhode Island has not lost a game at Attanasio Family Field since 2011 when it narrowly fell 7-6. 
  • Since then, the Rams have won five straight games in Providence.
  • A year ago, Rhody claimed a 5-2 win over Brown. The team took a 2-0 lead in the fourth on an Anthony DePino home run and never looked back.
  • Junior Connor Johnston threw 5.0 scoreless innings in his midweek start, striking out a career-high seven batters while issuing just one walk. He scattered three hits while facing just three over the minimum.
  • The teams were previously supposed to play on Tuesday, April 8 but the game was postponed due to rain.
  • In the 2024-25 academic year, Brown has a narrow 5-4 advantage over Rhode Island. Though the Bears' men's soccer, men's basketball, women's tennis ,volleyball and softball teams have wins over URI, Rhody won in football, women's basketball and women's soccer meetings.

THE MIDWEEK

  • Rhode Island has a 4-2 record in midweek games so far this season, which includes a split 1-1 record on the road.
  • After dropping a narrow, 9-8 loss at Quinnipiac back on March 25, URI took down Boston College, 11-9, in 10 innings at the Eagles' ballpark (April 2). 
  • Last week, the Rams avenged the loss to the Bobcats with an 11-7 victory at Bill Beck Field. 
  • Bryant and Brown are the only midweek opponents that Rhody is scheduled to play twice.
  • The teams' remaining midweek docket after this week's games include a home date with the Bears (April 23), a game at UConn (April 30) and a game against UMass Lowell (May 13). 
  • Junior Jack Hopko leads the team with a .500 batting average in midweek games. He has two doubles, one triple and a home run to go along with seven RBI. 
  • Classmate Dorsy Asencio has a 1.04 ERA in 8.2 midweek innings pitched with a team-best 10 strikeouts. He has a 1-0 record through five midweek appearances.
