Game Notes

RHODE ISLAND VS. BROWN - SERIES NOTES
  • Wednesday's game will be the second that Rhode Island and Brown have played this season and the 169th in the teams' shared history.
  • The Bears have an 86-81-2 advantage over the Rams in games dating back to 1908. That margin has slimmed down in the past 10 meetings, as URI has won all but one matchup.
  • Last week, Rhody dominated Brown 16-6 up in Providence, with the game ending after seven innings due to the 10-run rule.
  • Seven of URI's 12 knocks were for extra bases. It was the 21st time this season that URI cranked out double-digit hits.
  • Redshirt junior Ryan King hit his second career home run as part of a three-hit day. He also doubled and singled while scoring three runs.
  • Senior Eric Genther had a massive day at the plate, going 4-for-5 with a home run, a double, five runs batted in and four runs scored.
  • Junior Jack Hopko was the third Ram with at least three hits on the day. He was 3-for-4 with a triple, double, walk, four RBI and one run scored.
  • Senior Brody McKenzie scored four times out of the No. 9 spot in the batting order. He tripled, was hit by a pitch twice, walked once, stole a base and drove in a pair.
  • Freshman Nate Fletcher, redshirt junior Brandon Hsu and freshman Manny Santos combined on 4.1 innings of one-hit relief, as Brown scored just one run over the final four innings.
MEETING IN THE MIDDLE
  • Rhody's game against Brown will be one if its final midweek outings of the 2025 season.
  • URI will play at UConn (Wednesday, April 30) before closing the book against UMass Lowell (Tuesday, May 13).
  • The Rams enter Wednesday with a 5-3 record in midweek games, which includes a 3-1 mark at home.
  • Junior Jack Hopko leads the Rams with a .464 batting average in those contests. He is one of two Rams to hit higher than .400, joined by senior Brody McKenzie (.412).
  • As a team, Rhody is slashing .286 in midweek meetings with nine doubles, eight triples and eight home runs.
  • The pitching staff has a 4.96 ERA through 69.0 innings of work.
  • Sophomore Josh Kopetski has tossed a team-high 11.2 innings in the spread and has a 3.09 ERA.
  • The southpaw is holding midweek batters to a .186 average and has 11 strikeouts.
  • He, junior Dorsy Asencio, redshirt junior Brandon Hsu, sophomore Zach Morris and junior Connor Johnston have earned one midweek victory apiece.
NOTARANGELO RETURNS TO THE LINEUP
  • After missing about six weeks of the season with a broken wrist, graduate student Nic Notarangelo took the field for URI in the series against Dayton.
  • The Taunton, Mass. native started all three games in left field, where he recorded eight putouts.
  • Notarangelo didn't miss a beat when it came to his offensive production, batting .500 against the Flyers (5-for-10) with two doubles and an RBI.
  • Additionally, he contributed three stolen bases and scored two runs.
  • A new addition to the Rams' roster this season, Notarangelo suffered his injury when he was hit by a pitch at Eastern Kentucky.
  • The veteran player was a key addition for URI, having led the Endicott Gulls to a pair of College World Series appearances from 2021-24.
