SMITHFIELD, R.I. — Rhode Island combined 175 points from the men's team and 231 points from the women's team to win the Ocean State Cup hosted by Bryant University Friday.

Highlights from Competition

• Nick Martin finished the 3000m steeplechase in a program-record 9:01.18. He broke the record set by Eric Zulkofske on May 13, 2023 (9:10.38).
• The Rams had the 1-2-3 finish in the 100 meters. Alex Arbogast claimed first, finishing in a personal-best time of 10.54 seconds. LJ Raye was second (10.61s) and Jacob Volkerts was third (10.83s). 
• Rhode Island also claimed the top three finishes in the discus, led by CJ McDermott's first-place throw of 47.43 meters. Alex Fitzsimmons placed second (46.06m) and Gabe Rodrigues finished third (45.71m).
• Alexander Baez finished second in the hammer with a throw of 59.11 meters.
• Cam Rose finished third in the 200m (22.11s).
• Nick Morrison placed third in the 400m (48.71s). Morrison also finished fifth in the 200m in 22.28 seconds.
• Adam Melnick was the top finisher for the Rams in the 1500m, finished sixth in 3:55.63.
• Cam Miller won the high jump with a mark of 1.99 meters.
• In the javelin, Douglas Ledger finished first (59.42m) while Russell Perryman placed third (55.61m).
• Martine Macdonald was Rhody's top finisher in the long jump with a mark of 6.49 meters for seventh place.
• Mason Brubaker placed second in the pole vault after clearing 4.61 meters. Nathan Park placed third (4.31m). 
• Theo Puterbaugh won the shot put (16.57m) and Winslow Sightler placed second (15.69m). 
• The 4x400m relay team of Cam Rose, Jaden Enis, Adam Melnick, and Elijah Saddlemire won in 3:21.58.
