ORLANDO, Fla. - Rhode Island's long jumpers highlighted several strong individual performances at the two-day UCF Black and Gold Challenge. The Rams had three of the top five finishers in the 28-person field. Â
On the first day of the competition,
Matt Santy was second with a leap of 7.71 meters. He was behind only Iowa freshman Emmanuel Njoku won the event with a distance of 7.95 meters.
Also faring well in the long jump were
Izzy Henriques-Setho and
Joachim Ennoo. Henriques-Setho placed third with a distance of 7.50 meters, while Ennoo took fifth with his jump of 7.43 meters.
Friday Highlights
- Theo Puterbaugh was fourth out of 23 in the shot put with a toss of 17.43 meters.
- Doug Ledger placed fourth out of 15 in the javelin with his throw of 58.69 meters.
Saturday Highlights
- Matt Santy and Josia Katroli placed third and fourth, respectively, in the high jump. Santy cleared the same height of 2.15 meters that winner Brandon Pottinger and second-place Shyhiem Scotland, both of Clemson.
- Katroli had a height of 2.12 meters.
- Lucas Andrade advanced to the finals of the 110-meter hurdles, which started with a 31-man field. Andrade finished eighth overall with a time of 14.41 seconds in the final.
