Brown starter Alexis Guevara tossed a four-hit shutout in the opener, striking out five batters along the way.

The Bears (18-10) scored in five of their six turns at bat, steadlily increasing their lead as the game moved along. Leadoff hitter Jasmine Hsiao set the table offensively, going 3-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBI. She fell a double shy of the cycle as she had a solo home run, an RBI single, a triple and one walk in four plate appearances.

Rhode Island (9-22) did not get any runners past first base against Guevara.

The second game was more of the same, as Rhody (9-23) was held to two hits over 5.0 by Brown pitchers Macy Borowski and Annie Finch.

The Bears (19-10) scored a pair of runs on two hits and two walks in the first inning. They broke the game open with a seven-run third inning. Brown had five hits, four walks, one hit batsmen and also took advantage of two URI errors in the frame. When all was said and done, 13 Bears went to the plate during the rally.

With the eight-run rule enacted, the game was called after five innings.

Up Next
Rhode Island hosts Saint Louis for three games this weekend at the URI Softball Complex. The teams are scheduled for a doubleheader on Saturday and a single game Sunday. However, the schools are monitoring the weather patterns. Any schedule changes will be posted to GoRhody.com.
