DePino, Hopko Land on All-ECAC Team

KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island Baseball's third baseman Anthony DePino and designated hitter Jack Hopko were named to the All-Eastern College Athletic Conference Division I Team announced by the league on Wednesday morning.

Thirteen total players were tabbed to the All-ECAC Team, with George Mason's James Quinn-Irons earning Player of the Year honors, Yale's Jack Ohman receiving Pitcher of the Year accolades and Iona's Sean Stephenson being named Rookie of the Year. Northeastern's Mike Glavine won Coach of the Year.

The recognition comes on the heels of First Team All-Atlantic 10 honors for both DePino and Hopko, who helped the Rams capture both the league's regular season and conference tournament titles in their respective senior and junior campaigns. By winning the Atlantic 10 Baseball Tournament, Rhode Island clinched the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Championship and subsequently played in the Baton Rouge Regional, hosted by No. 6 LSU.

One of the most feared hitters in college baseball, DePino checks into the country's top 20 in numerous offensive categories including runs (second, 85), walks (ninth, 57), total bases (16th, 165), home runs (20th, 20) and on-base percentage (20th, .505). The only player in Division I Baseball with 20 home runs and 20 stolen bags (21-25), DePino broke URI's single-season home runs record as a senior. He leads Rhode Island all-time in career runs scored (201), home runs (65), RBI (181), total bases (475), extra-base hits (118) and walks (153). Additionally, he also racked up the 10th-most career assists in program history from the hot corner, finishing with 390.

The country's regular-season leader in RBI (80), Hopko had a breakout junior campaign that saw him take a huge leap in production at the plate. Playing primarily as the team's designated hitter, Hopko batted .341 with eight doubles, two triples and 16 home runs. He finished the year with 83 RBI to break the team's 16-year-old record in the category while racking up 137 total bases and scoring 59 runs.
