RHODE ISLAND VS. PROVIDENCE - SERIES NOTES

  • The Rams are back at home after a three-game road stretch, hosting the Providence Friars in a Saturday night matchup under the lights at the URI Soccer Complex.
  • Saturday will be the 33rd meeting all-time between the two schools. PC leads the series 21-8-3, and have a six-game unbeaten streak. The last time Rhody beat the Friars was Aug. 31, 2007 in a 4-0 shutout in Kingston.
  • Providence has outscored URI 9-2 since that shutout. 
  • In last year's meeting, the Rams fell 1-0.

SCOUTING THE FRIARS

  • Providence has won its first two matches of 2025, first defeating Army 1-0 to open the season before handing Northeastern a 2-1 loss in Boston.
  • The match will be the second straight road game for the Friars. Last season, Providence was 1-7 away from home.
  • Following PC's win over Northeastern, Ella McBride and Courtnee Pickles earned BIG EAST Weekly Honors. McBride was named Defensive Player of the Week and Pickles was selected to the weekly Honor Roll.

  • The Rams face three straight in-state rivals, facing Providence Saturday after visiting Brown this past Monday.
  • After this weekend against the Friars, the Rams host Bryant on Thursday Sept. 4.
  • Rhode Island women's soccer head coach Megan Jessee is looking for her first win against Providence and Bryant. A year ago, she picked up her first win against Brown when the Rams snapped the Bear's nine-game win streak.  

DISHING DIMES

  • Rhode Island junior Jill Rosenfeld has recorded an assist in three straight matches. Last time out, she assisted McKenna Sylvester's first goal of the night before assisting in Kaia Rice's lone goal in Rhody's win at Northeastern. 
  • Her first career assist came in the win at Maine. 
  • Rosenfeld has registered three assists in four games this year after not having any in the first 37 matches of her career.
