A10 MEDIA DAY LIVE STREAM

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Rhode Island had two players named to the Atlantic 10 Men's Basketball Preseason All-Conference Team, as guard Jonah Hinton and wing Jahmere Tripp both earned third-team recognition.

The Rams were picked to finish 12th in the preseason poll, which was voted on by the league's head coaches and media members. VCU and Saint Louis are the favorites to win the league, according to the poll. VCU had 308 points and 11 first-place votes. Dayton was the third-place team with 276 points and received two first-place place.

Hinton and Tripp were two of the top three leading scorers for head coach Archie Miller last season, combining for 24.6 points per game. Both players averaged double figures in their first season with the Rams, with Hinton providing 12.6 points per game. Tripp added an even 12.0 per contest.

Hinton led the team with 76 3-point baskets last season. That mark tied for the ninth-highest single-season total in program history. His 2.6 3-pointers per game ranked third in the conference last season. On Feb. 17 of last year, Hinton tied the Rhode Island single-game record when he made nine 3-pointers in a 29-point performance during URI's upset victory over then-No. 18 Saint Louis.

Tripp was an effective multi-level scorer in his first year at Rhode Island. The burly wing could get low and score in the point, but he also shot 41 percent from 3-point range (34-of-83) over the course of 27 games. Tripp has shown steady improvement throughout his career. He averaged 4.3 points and 2.0 rebounds per game as a freshman at Fordham, following by 7.9 points and 3.9 rebounds per game the next season.

Last year - his first with Rhode Island - he averaged 12.0 points and 4.3 boards per game. In 2025-26, Tripped shot a career-best .736 at the free-throw line, .410 from 3-point range and .459 from the field overall.

Miller and Tripp are representing Rhode Island at the Atlantic 10 Basketball Media Day in Washington, D.C. on Monday. The duo is scheduled to be live on the Media Day livestream on ESPN+ at 1 p.m.
