Scoring Summary
21:55 – URI– Goglia (Bruning)
How it Happened
Everson Goglia scored the lone goal to lift the Rams over the Revolutionaries Saturday afternoon.Â
George Washington had the momentum in the early stages of the game. In the 13
th minute mad Yago Torres hit the woodwork with a shot from distance, followed by a shot by Ben McGovern that was saved by Rhody keeper
William Synnestvedt and cleared by the defense.
The Rams had a great chance just a few minutes later when
Maksim Kalina received a slip pass from
Sinan Bruning in the 18-yard box, who then put the shot on goal but was denied by a diving save by GW's goalkeeper Diego Pena. Bruning followed up the rebound with a second shot that was more routine for Pena to handle. Â
The Rams kept the pressure on when, in the 22
nd minute, Bruning made a terrific run through the midfield before he slipped a pass to
Everson Goglia, who took the ball in stride and shot it through the keeper's legs to break the deadlock, 1-0.
The second half started much quieter, with just two combined shots on goal through the 80
th minute of play as both teams' defenses hunkered down.
Things got chippy in the 82
nd minute when the Rams and Revolutionaries got involved in some pushing and shoving, which led to a red card issued to
Tiago Barriguinha and originally a red to Luciano Zuniga, but was then downgraded to a yellow card after video review.
Rhody was able to hold on with 10 men for the final eight minutes to secure their fourth win of the season.
