RHODE ISLAND VS. VCU - Series notes

  • Rhode Island faces VCU Wednesday for the 15th all-time meeting, and second this season.
  • Back on Jan. 14, Rhody made the trip to the Siegel Center and left RVA with a 46-41 win.
  • Rhode Island is 4-10 all-time against VCU.
  • All four Rhody wins against the VCU-based Rams have come under head coach Tammi Reiss.
  • URI has won three of the last four meetings with VCU.
  • Rhody is 11-1 at home this season, winning its last seven straight games in Kingston while VCU is 1-7 on the road.
  • Grad student Valentina Ojeda spent two seasons at VCU before transferring to Rhode Island.
  • Rhody enters Wednesday on a 15-game win streak, a program record.

SCOUTING THE (VCU) RAMS

  • VCU has dropped its last two games, most recently falling 66-55 at Loyola Chicago.
  • The last win for VCU was a 69-58 victory over Fordham Jan. 28.
  • After VCU's Mary-Anna Asare went down with season-ending injury, Katarina Knezevic has led the team in points with an average of 10.3 per game.
  • Knezevic also paces VCU in rebounding, adding 4.9 boards per game.
  • VCU assistant coach Kirk Crawford will serve as the interim coach for the remainder of the 2025-26 season.

WWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

  • Rhode Island won its 15th straight game last time out, beating Saint Louis  74-43 at the Ryan Center.
  • The 14 straight wins are tied for the fourth-longest in the nation. Only UConn (41), North Dakota State (20) and UCLA (17) have won more consecutive games.
  • Rhody scored 74 points in its win over the Billikens, marking the 10th time this year Rhody has scored 70+ points.
  • Last year, the Rams scored 70+ points in seven total games.
  • The 15-game win streak is the best in program history.
  • The previous record win streak for the Rams was a 13-game stint in the 2021-22 season.
  • Rhode Island is 12-0 to start Atlantic 10 play for the second time under head coach Tammi Reiss.
  • A win Wednesday would make Rhody 13-0 in A-10 action for the first time in program history.

HOME SWEET HOME

  • The Rams are back home Wednesday after beating Saint Louis Sunday in Kingston.
  • This season, Rhody is 11-1 at home.
  • Rhode Island hasn't lost at the Ryan Center since the Princeton game back on Nov. 26, winning the last seven straight games in Kingston.
  • Head coach Tammi Reiss has turned the Ryan Center into a true homecourt advantage, going 75-19 at home in her seven seasons.
  • The Rams were 15-39 at home in the previous four years before Reiss arrived.
  • Rhody is averaging 72.4 points per game at the Ryan Center with a +20.6 scoring margin.
