Rams Hit the Road for Wednesday Test at La Salle

RHODE ISLAND VS. LA SALLE - Series notes 

  • Rhode Island and La Salle meet for 43rd time Wednesday.
  • Historically, Rhody is 13-29 all-time against La Salle, however the Rams have won the last six straight meetings with the Explorers.
  • The last La Salle win in the series was back of Feb. 22, 2020 (54-42) in Kingston.
  • It'll be Rhody's first trip to Philadelphia since the opening of John E. Glaser Arena. 
  • In the last match up between the two teams, Rhode Island handed La Salle a 77-54 loss at the Ryan Center.
  • Guards Ines Debroise and Sophia Vital combined for 24 points on 8-of-10 from the field and a 6-for-7 performance at the free throw line in the last meeting with the Explorers. 
  • The Rams are 11-1 on the road this season, winning the last 10 straight games away from Kingston while La Salle is 6-6 at home this year.  
  • Rhody enters Wednesday on a 17-game win streak, a program record.

SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS

  • The Explorers enter Wednesday winning their last two games, most recently defeating George Washington 67-52 in Washington, D.C.
  • La Salle has three averaging double figures in scoring, led by Ashleigh Connor's 15.6 points per game.
  • The Explorers are 7-7 in Atlantic 10 action.
  • Redshirt sophomore Aryss Macktoon leads La Salle in rebounding, averaging 7.2 per game paired with her 15.1 points per game.
  • La Salle head coach Mountain MacGillivray is in his seventh season leading the Explorers.

20-WIN SEASON (AGAIN)

  • The win against George Mason last time out was Rhody's 23rd of the season.
  • It's the fourth 20-win season under head coach Tammi Reiss in her seven years leading the program.
  • For perspective, in the 38 years before Reiss, the Rams recorded 22 20-loss seasons.
  • Reiss posted three straight 20-win seasons from 2021-22 through 2023-24 for the first time ever. 
  • Before Reiss, the Rams had just two 20-win seasons.
  • With the 23 wins, the Rams have already surpassed last year's win total with four regular season games still remaining (17).

  • The Rams are 12-0 in 2026.
  • Rhody is 22-0 when leading at the half.
  • Rhode Island is 16-0 when the game is decided by 10+ points. 
  • The Rams are 19-0 when outrebounding their opponent.
  • Rhode Island is 9-0 when it allows fewer than 50 points, and 5-0 when the opponent's field goal percentage is below 30 percent.
  • The Rams are 12-0 when scoring 70+ points.
