How it Happened
Rhode Island got three goals each from Emmerson Goettlemann and Kate Cumins to lead the way in a 13-7 win at Merrimack Saturday afternoon.

URI's second win of the season was a wire-to-wire affair. The Rams jumped out to a 7-1 by midway through the second quarter. Five different players found the back of the next during the run, Calli Dunn got Rhody on the board less than three minutes in, and Cumins added one two minutes later.

Merrimack cut the lead in half with a goal from Alli Lamphere, but the Rams ran off five straight goals. Caitlin Dellecave, Cumins and Caralie Basuel scored to make it 5-1 before Goettlemann scored the first two goals of her career to push the advantage to 7-1.

Rhody never let the lead dip below three goals the rest of the way. A four-goal run that started late in the third quarter put the game on ice.
