How it HappenedÂ
Kate Cumins sparked a late rally as Rhode Island edged Siena 7-6 Wednesday evening.
The teams were never separated by more than one goal as the match featured six ties. With the Rams trailing 5-4 early in the third quarter,
Caralie Basuel scored off an assist
Caitlin Dellecave with 12:04 to go in the period. Cumins then scored less than four minutes later to give Rhody a 6-5 lead.
The URI advantage stood until Koehler Nieman knotted the game at 6-6 less than 90 seconds into the fourth quarter. Cumins netted the game-winning goal off Dellecave's third assist of the match with 10:24 to go.
Neither side scored the rest of the way as the Rams picked up their third win of the season.
