How it Happened
Rhode Island's season came to an end with a 67-61 loss to Duquesne in the second round of the Atlantic 10 Men's Basketball Championship Thursday.
The seventh-seeded Dukes (18-14) controlled the tempo throughout, using its talented backcourt to play a remarkably clean game. Duquesne had just one turnover and had 16 offensive rebounds to help keep Rhode Island at bay. Alex Williams scored 22 points, Jimmie Williams added 17 points and Tarence Guinyard had 15 points.
Rhode Island (16-16) was carried offensively by
Tyler Cochran, who did his best to will the team along. He tied the A-10 championship record -and the URI program record - by making nine 3-point baskets. He had 34 points, accounting for 55.7 percent of the teams scoring.
