How it Happened
Rhode Island used a dominant second half to pull away from La Salle for a 17-6 victory, earning its first Atlantic 10 win of the season.
The Rams built an early cushion behind a balanced scoring effort in the first quarter. Caitlin Dellecave opened the scoring, and Caralie Basuel followed to make it 2-0. La Salle answered with a pair of goals to even the score at 2-2, but Rhode Island responded with two late goals to take a 4-2 lead into the second.
Dellecave continued to pace the offense in the second quarter, scoring just 13 seconds in to extend the lead to 5-2. After the Explorers cut it to 5-3, Rhode Island rattled off three consecutive goals to create separation. La Salle added two late scores, then opened the third period with another to pull within 8-6, but that would be as close as it would get.
Rhode Island dominated the remainder of the game, scoring nine unanswered goals for the remainder second half while holding La Salle scoreless to seal the 17-6 win.
