How It Happened
Saint Joseph's used power at the plate and a complete-game shutout from pitcher Jules Scogna to beat Rhode Island 7-0 and complete a three-game sweep Sunday.

Rhode Island (3-6, 0-3 Atlantic 10) could not solve pitcher Scogna. Despite getting four hits and a hit batsman, the Rams did not get any runners past first base. Saint Joseph's turned a pair of double plays and threw out a runner trying to steal, hurting Rhody's chances to build any rallies.

Saint Joseph's (9-9, 3-0 A-10) got a run in the bottom of the first. With two out and Meghan Sinkus on third, Riley York singled to center and brought Sinkus in.

It was York delivering again in the bottom of the third inning. With Elyssa Hasapis on first base, York blooped a hit down the right field line. Rayah Snyder just missed a diving catch, and the hit turned into a run-scoring triple. An inning later, Morgan Lester's solo home run added to the lead.

The Hawks got four runs with two outs in the bottom of the sixth. Grace Brown hit a two-run homer, and Lester added an RBI triple. She later scored on a wild pitch to cap the scoring.
